Sankarankovil is a town in Thirunelveli District. It is located 33 Kms south of Rajapalayam and 53 Kms NorthWest of Thirunelveli and about 40 kms east of Western ghat Hills. There are two State high ways passing through Sankarankovil. Road SH41 is Noth South connecting Rajapalayam and Thirunelveli and Road SH76 is East West connecting Puliankudi and Kovilpatti. The town is part of Tirunelveli Kattabomman district. It is the capital of Sankarankovil taluk. The town has other names like SNKL, Sangai.

Nearest Junction is at Kovilpatti located on the Chennai Central – Trivandrum line offering connectivity to rest of India through express trains through out the day.
