An ancient capital of Travancore rules until 1798 A.D. There is a palace inside the fort spread over 6 acres, known for it antiques, including the armory of royal family. The wood work in this palace is intricate.
Apart from them, there are so many temples inside the fort. Among which Sri Ramaswami temple, Sri Subramanya Temple, Sri Saraswathi Temple. In the Ramaswami Temple scenes from Ramayana were carved out in woodl.
