KODAIKANAL

Kodaikanal comes from the Tamil words `kodai` and `kanal` literally means `relief from heat` and the place never disappoints the traveller.
Located 120 kilometer from Madurai, this hill station is more than 2133meters above level draws tourists to the verdant charms of its spectacular lake, the waterfalls and shoals or forests.
Season
April-June and September-October. The temparature ranges between 12 and 20 c in summber and between 8 to 18 degree C in winter.
The Lake:
This magnificent lake with boating facilities and a 5 km long promenade skirting it are the main attrations of kodaikanal.
Bryant Park
This Park is situated on the estern side of the Lake. It is famous for its hybrids and grafts, cut flowers are exported from here. In may, the annaul horticultural show is held.
Coaker`s Walk
Just one kilometer from the lake. It derives the name from Lt. Coaker, who prepared the map of Kodaikanal. Coaker`s walk runs a long a steep, emerald green wooded slope. Entry fee is collected here.
Green Valley View
It is about 5.5 km from the lake and very near the Golf Club. Originally this was know as Suicide Point. From here, the vaigai Dam below offers an enchanting view.
Pillar Rocks
It is about 7.4 km from the lake. Three boulders stand here, shoulder to shoulder, vertically measuiring 400 feet, providing a majestic sight. It has a mini gardern with beautiful flowers.
Kurinji Andavar Temple
The temple is situated 3 km from the lake, is a famous shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan. This temple is associated with the Kurinji flowers which blooms once in 12 years. From this temple one can have a pleasant view of palani and Vaigai Dam.
Chettiar Park
This park is one the way to Kurinji Andavar temple. The Chettiar park is charming place to stop by.

Silver Cascade 8 km, shenbaganur museum 5.5 km, Observatory Telescope Houses, Perumal Peak 12  km, Berijam lake, Moer point and kukkal cave are woth to see.
